At the Tea Party Coalition Forum Tuesday Senatorial Candidate Pat Toomey stated that he did not run for his Representative seat because he promised he would serve only (I think) 3 terms.  Any thoughts on term limits being set as law?

One potential result being nonprofessional, non-serving for life politicians, opening up the field to more potential candidates.  Or, would it dilute the talent pool and bring a more nonprofessional, unproductive stock of legislators to office?  What would be reasonable term limits for both Houses?  Two terms for Senators, four terms for Representatives.  Perhaps non-consecutive terms?

Another thought:  Would any Congressman/woman have the political courage to propose and pursue a paycut for Congress?  A reduction in the benefits they receive?  Health benefits for life?  You have to be kidding me.  Who works for who here?

Any thoughts or opinions?
